Living the Resurrection Everyday

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” -Acts 1:8

Do you feel powerful? I mean really powerful? The kind of power that could literally bring someone back from the dead?

My guess is that if you are still reading, the answer is probably no.

Feeling powerful is not typically part of the testimony of a Christian but shouldn’t it be?

That’s what Jesus said would happen. We would receive power from the Holy Spirit. Paul want on to say that this is the same power that brought Jesus back from the dead!

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. -Romans 8:11

So, do you feel it?

Last weekend we had an incredible morning of worship as we celebrated Easter. Pandemic or not, Easter is the most attended Sunday of any other week of the year. Christians (and many non-Christians) make sure to be in church on this day. There’s just something special about it and it is all about the resurrection of Jesus.

Interestingly, Easter usually signifies the beginning of the summer decline for church attendance. In other words, once we’ve celebrated that day, the rest of life seems to become more important to us.

It wasn’t that way with the first disciples. They didn’t gather a few times out of the year to talk about Jesus coming back from the dead, they talked about it every time they got together in church or not. This power was palpable. It was changing lives. It changed their lives.

What would it look like to live the resurrection everyday? Let’s talk about that tomorrow morning!

See you soon!
