Perception

Perception #1

Discipleship

Sometimes we can get caught up in the “reality” that surrounds us everyday. We can be completely blind to what is going on around us because we are so focused on us. Paul described it as “puzzling reflections in a mirror”…

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. 1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT)

We see them, but they are confusing. We aren’t blind, but we don’t quite understand the things that we are seeing. In fact, only God has perfect clarity when it comes to anything that is truly real. That’s one of the most significant reasons that Jesus came to us…to show us what we can’t see for ourselves…to adjust our perception to His.

As you start this 7 week journey with us, start with one simple truth. Jesus loves you, unconditionally. If you can only see one thing clearly right now, Jesus loves you completely. He was even willing to did so that you could experience a relationship with Him.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16–17 (ESV)

As you assess your life and the world around you, know that your perception can be informed by God, who has perfect clarity, or ourselves. God loves you so perfectly, that He was unwilling to let you live a life without knowing what is true…to live a life without knowing Him.
