Compass Point #3

Discipleship

Knowing God’s will or your life is one of the greatest privileges God has given us. He has promised to “make all things new” including you and me! We think it is supposed to be so mysterious and hidden but God wants us to seek Him and know His will. Knowing God and His will is central to living within the kingdom of God. Jesus said this…

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33–34 (ESV)

What does it mean to you to seek God’s kingdom? So often we think of it being in heaven or a place we will experience after we leave this world but Jesus said that His kingdom was HERE, RIGHT NOW!

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:14–15 (ESV)

Imagine that His kingdom is here and you have the opportunity to experience it and be changed by it. Perhaps you are discouraged because you want to see God moving in your life but you aren’t sure if He is. His will sometimes seems so far away like the best kept secret of all time. Remember, God is the one doing the work within you and He won’t leave you behind!

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 (ESV)

Sometimes seeing the hand of God means looking in our past to remember what God has already done in our lives so that we can be encouraged that He is sill working for our future. As you pray through your day, consider the ways that God is at work in you. Thank Him for all the things that He has done and all that He has yet to do!

Truth: It is possible to experience the Kingdom of God now.

Question: Where do I see God at work in my life?
