Every person on the planet has a mission.
Some are exciting and dangerous, while others seem mild and mundane.
Our missions may not be identical, but we all share elements that are the same.
It’s our mission in life and it is given to us by God, Himself.
Along with your mission, God has given you the means, skills, gifts, and opportunities to fulfill your mission. It’s a glorious adventure that leads to overwhelming fulfillment and a chance to change the world.
You don’t have to know what your mission is to know that God is actively involved in your life and He is inviting you to go on mission with Him.
Some stay true to this new way of life, but others get distracted by their “Shadow Mission” and it is as insidious and dangerous as it sounds.
You may develop your own but often, your shadow mission is taught to you by someone else and once you accept it, you begin walking down a very frustrating and empty path.
In John Ortberg’s “Overcoming Your Shadow Mission”, this nefarious distraction is defined as the following:
Join us for a new series that dives into the realm of the shadow mission. You may not know what your’s is, but you can probably discover it, given enough time.
We will walk through several stories in the Bible of people that were on mission, and those who got just a little off track.
You see when you start getting a little off-track, you eventually end up far from the place that you originally wanted to be (and often thought you were).
It starts this Sunday and I hope you will join me!
