Compass Point #16

Uncategorized

A relationship with Jesus should be both very private and very public. He gave his life and walked out of the tomb to demonstrate His love for each one of us finally giving us freedom from sin and opening the door to an incredible relationship with our creator God. That is highly personal. We can know God intimately and communicate with Him regularly.

At the same time, our faith should be very public. It should be evident to everyone that comes in contact with us. The transforming power of the Holy Spirit lives inside every follower of Jesus and that transformation, while very personal, is also meant to be witnessed by others so that they, too, can know Jesus.

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. John 15:26–27 (ESV)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (ESV)

You have an opportunity to show others the faith that has become important to you. You bump shoulders with people every single day at work, at home, at the store, the gym, everywhere you go. Have you considered what kind of message you are sending about your faith? Is it helpful? Hopeful? Judgmental? Hurtful? Consider the message you are sending and the people you have an opportunity to send it to.

Truth: We are God’s messengers (representatives) to people around us.

Question: Who are the people who God has put around you?
