There are a few constants in life…the joy that an infant’s laugh can bring, the peace after overcoming a major obstacle, fear that creeps in when we find that we are not in control when we really want to be, and of course, death and taxes. One other constant that we all deal with is change. It’s part of the human experience and in general, we don’t particularly like it. This summer, we are exploring biblical stories centered around dealing with change and we would love for you to join us any week that you can.
We are moving!
Journey is on the move. Over the last year, we have been re-imagining HOW we do what we do and that has led us on a journey (pun intended) to partner with other churches in unique ways. Burks UMC in Hixson has extended an invitation for Journey to lease worship, children and youth space in their Activities Center beginning Sunday, May 5th. We are currently freshening up the space in conjunction with Burks and are looking forward to building a growing relationship with their congregation as well as seeking the good of the city, together.
Being with Jesus…
Being with Jesus simply means choosing to be an apprentice of Jesus Christ; to be with him, spend time each day aware of his presence and to be attentive to his voice. It is a “with-ness” to Jesus that becomes the foundation of your entire life.
Becoming like Jesus…
Jesus didn’t just come to die on a cross for the forgiveness of sins. He came to show us what it looked like to live out the scriptures true intent…to become a person of love and be restored to a type of humanity that isn’t continually being broken by sin. Jesus was a master at this and invites us to grow to become like him.
Doing what Jesus did…
The goal of an apprentice is to be able to carry on the work of the master they are learning from. Jesus demonstrated a “way” of living that was good and full of joy and he wanted us to share it with others.
Need Prayer?
There are times when life is overwhelming, when all we have is questions. In those moments, hope can feel far away. The great thing about prayer is that it shifts our perspective toward the One who stands ready to listen. No matter what you’re facing, we’d love to pray with you!
